Looking for a football camp that grows with your child? Our age-specific coaching at Atlas Football Camps ensures every player gets the right mix of challenge, encouragement and enjoyment. From early fundamentals to tactical awareness and leadership skills, our football camps across Gloucestershire help children build confidence both on and off the pitch.
Ages 5-7: Fun, Fundamentals & Falling in Love with Football ⚽
For younger players aged 5-7, our Football Camps focus on building confidence, coordination and a genuine love for the game. This is often where children are experiencing structured football for the first time, so sessions are designed to feel playful, supportive and pressure-free.
Coaches introduce core skills such as dribbling, balance, turning and ball control through discovery games and small challenges, rather than repetitive drills. Game-based learning helps children improve without even realising they're “training”, while short matches encourage teamwork and sharing success.
At this age, enjoyment comes first. Our UEFA and FA-qualified coaches ensure every child feels included, supported and proud of their progress — whether they arrive as total beginners or already love kicking a ball around at home.
Ages 8-10: Technique, Teamwork & Growing Confidence
For players aged 8-10, Football Camps begin to introduce more technical detail and structured learning, while keeping sessions fun and engaging. Children work on passing, receiving, shooting and movement, alongside developing decision-making in real game scenarios.
Sessions often include:
-
Skill-based challenges
-
Small-sided matches
-
Friendly competitions that build confidence
Our coaches tailor activities to suit mixed abilities, ensuring beginners and more experienced players are equally challenged and encouraged. Emphasis is placed on teamwork, respect and perseverance, helping children grow not just as footballers, but as teammates.
This age group is where many players start to see noticeable improvement — and where confidence on the pitch often transfers into confidence off it too.
Ages 11-14: Tactics, Game Awareness & Leadership
For older players aged 11-14, Football Camps provide a more advanced football experience, combining technical refinement with tactical understanding. Sessions may explore position-specific roles, game management and reading play, helping players think more deeply about how football works as a team sport.
Game-based learning remains central, with:
-
Competitive match play
-
Tactical challenges
-
Opportunities to lead and support younger players
Leadership is encouraged in many forms — from leading by example to motivating teammates — and every child is supported to grow at their own pace. Whether they play weekly for a club or simply remind themselves why they love football, older players leave camp feeling challenged, motivated and proud of their development.

Children are grouped by age, with coaches adapting activities to suit different experience levels within
each group. This ensures everyone is challenged, supported and enjoying the session.
Boots or trainers?
Trainers are fine; bring boots if you have them (venue-dependent).
Mixed abilities?
Absolutely — we group and adapt so everyone is challenged and
supported.
Kim is our Football Camps Manager and lives and breathes the beautiful game. When he's not on the pitch coaching, encouraging and inspiring young players, you'll usually find him watching films, eating his way through something tasty, or glued to whatever sport happens to be on — from kick-off to final whistle.
