Guided by a genuine passion for sport and helping others grow, Dan co-founded Atlas Camps with a clear mission: to deliver high-quality childcare that families can truly rely on.
Drawing on his experience as a parent, coach and business leader, Dan has helped shape Atlas Camps into a trusted, community-focused provider where children feel safe, supported and excited to take part — and where parents have complete peace of mind.
Drawing on his experiences with England Rugby and a lifelong passion for sport and development, Dan co-founded Atlas Camps with his business partner James, sharing a vision to create high-quality, engaging childcare that families could trust. From those early days, Dan's focus on coaching excellence, teamwork and community values helped shape the culture that Atlas is now known for — a place where children thrive, staff are supported, and parents feel confident their little ones are in safe hands.
Under Dan's leadership, Atlas Camps has grown into one of the region's most respected childcare providers, earning an Ofsted 'Outstanding' rating in its most recent graded inspection and building a reputation for professionalism, warmth and quality across every site. His ability to combine care and creativity has been key to the company's continued success, setting a benchmark for excellence in holiday and wraparound childcare.
A true entrepreneur at heart, Dan has also driven innovation behind the scenes — teaching himself to code and leading the development of Atlas's bespoke digital systems. From streamlining operations to enhancing parent experience, his hands-on approach has helped modernise the business and keep it at the forefront of the childcare sector. Today, he remains as passionate as ever about growing Atlas alongside James, nurturing its people, and ensuring the company continues to deliver childcare that parents love and children never forget.
Before Atlas, Dan achieved a long-held ambition by joining England Rugby as a Community Rugby Coach — one of the youngest people in the country to secure the role. It was a proud milestone that fulfilled a goal he had set for himself back at college, and a moment that marked the start of an incredible journey within the national governing body. Working across schools, clubs and community programmes, Dan dedicated himself to growing the game and inspiring the next generation of players and coaches.
Through his hard work and commitment, Dan was soon promoted to Coach Developer, a role that saw him mentoring, teaching, supporting and assessing coaches as they worked towards their national qualifications. This experience sparked a lasting passion for helping others to learn, grow and achieve their potential — something that continues to influence his leadership style today.
Dan's journey with England Rugby progressed further when he was appointed to lead the delivery of the South West coaching courses and manage a team of Coach Developers. In this position, he gained invaluable experience in leadership and quality assurance — from maintaining high coaching standards to ensuring strategic goals were met. It was a role that carried great responsibility and gave Dan a deep appreciation for developing people, building teams and driving excellence — qualities that now underpin much of what he brings to Atlas Camps.
Dan's journey in sport truly began at Hartpury College, where he studied for a National Diploma in Sports Performance & Excellence. Surrounded by a community of passionate athletes and coaches, he developed a deep understanding of how sport can be used to connect, inspire and make a difference. During his time at Hartpury, Dan achieved the 'Step into Sport - Gold Award' for completing over 200 hours of voluntary coaching — an accomplishment that earned him a place at a national conference for high achievers at Loughborough University. Those early experiences shaped his commitment to leadership, teamwork and creating opportunities for others through sport.
Following Hartpury, Dan went on to study BA (Hons) Sport Development at the University of Chester, where his enthusiasm for community engagement grew even stronger. From organising student campaigns to launching an inter-hall tag rugby competition that brought hundreds of students together, Dan became known for his ability to get people active and involved. His dedication and impact were recognised when he was named 'Sports Personality of the Year', celebrating his work to make sport inclusive, accessible and fun for everyone.
These experiences laid the foundation for Dan's belief that sport has the power to bring people together and change lives — a belief that continues to shape the values and culture at Atlas Camps today.
